Northern Illinois University Fine Arts season
opens with Nebellen Dance Company

DeKalb – Get ready for a night of dancing as the Nebellen Dance Company performs at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, at the Egyptian Theatre in DeKalb.

Nebellen features a broad range of dancers and styles, including break dance, hip-hop, liquid, martial arts and performers who dazzle in the dark with glow sticks. Artistic directors Ellen Rath, company member at Ballet Arizona, and Benjamin Howe, alumni of Arizona State University’s dance department, founded the company in 2000.

Nebellen captivates a young audience with an appreciation for the energetic choreography of the ensemble and the expressive freedom of the dancers. While bringing popular culture into the realm of artistic expression might not be anything new, Nebellen fits the bill integrating dancers who are racially and ethnically diverse and range in age from 17 to 27. Every dancer shines through solos and freestyle performance.

Purchase tickets at the NIU Campus Activities Board box office, located on the ground floor of the Holmes Student Center, or charge by phone at (815) 753-3146. Price is $7 for NIU students with I.D.; $16 for faculty/staff, children ages 8-18 and adults older than 65; and $19 for the general public.

This Fine Arts Series is sponsored by the NIU Campus Activities Board and is funded in part by the Illinois Arts Council, the DeKalb Daily Chronicle, MidWeek, WDKB 94.9 (B95), and WNIU. For more information, call the CAB office at (815) 753-1580 or visit the Website at www.niu.edu/cab.
