Northern Illinois University presents
singer-songwriter Jason Mraz

DE KALB – Northern Illinois University’s Campus Activities Board continues its fall semester lineup with singer-songwriter Jason Mraz, performing at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, in the Duke Ellington Ballroom.

Mraz has been influenced by such musical talents as Belle and Sebastian, Beck, Bjork, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson and Dave Matthews. He has an eclectic sound that has been compared to Jack Johnson and John Mayer and has shared venues with Bob Dylan, Paula Cole, Jewel and David Gray.

“The Remedy (I Won’t Worry),” Jason’s first single from “Waiting For My Rocket To Come,” spent 25 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 15. Other album tracks include “You and I Both,” “I’ll do Anything” and “Curbside Prophet.” Mraz has released two live albums, “Sold Out (In Stereo)” and “Live CD” and an EP titled “The E Minor EP in F.”

Opening for Jason Mraz will be San Diego native Tristan Prettyman, whose confessional lyrics and percussive acoustic guitar-playing evoke a marriage of Ani DiFranco and Jack Johnson. She released her seven-song EP titled “The Love EP” in August and has seen stellar air play. Prettyman has opened for John Mellencamp and, more recently, has joined Jason Mraz for the rest of his tour.

Tickets are on sale at the Holmes Student Center Box Office or charge by phone at (815) 753-3146. Prices are $15 for NIU students with valid NIU I.D. and $18 for the general public. This event is NIU Student Association allocated and open to all. For more information, please visit www.niu.edu/cab.
