Lot Closings and Construction Updates:

In an effort to provide a safe and well maintained parking infrastructure and unobstructed flow of traffic as stated in their Mission Statement Parking Services will be closing several parking facilities for most of the summer starting May (weather permitting) for major repair:

Move-out Parking effective May 6 – May 12, 2013 – Located in the Lots listed below; will be enforced as 30 minute parking:

• Lot D – The meters and 15 minute spaces
• Lot P – East row of Lot P
• Lot 49 – Blue Permits will be allowed in Lot W
• Lot X – West row – will use the whole row north of handicap spaces
• Lot 15/E – North and West rows

Summer Changes – Effective May 15 – August 15, 2013 (due to lot closings)

• Any Blue permit can park in any color lot
• Any Student permit can park in any student lot
• Student Reserve Spaces will be removed May 15, 2013 except for Lot 36. Those will be removed on May 20, 2013.

New parking maps will be available soon, but we wanted to bring to your attention that Lot V will become Lot 40 as of 7/1/13. The current Lot 40 will turn to Yellow Permit parking. Therefore, there will be no Brown Parking, from 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on east campus unless Special Parking is utilized.

+ Lot 30 closed May 13 to July 9 (weather permitting) to install a new storm sewer under Stadium Drive West from Stadium Drive North to Stephenson Drive North. During this closure use Lot P instead.

+ Lot 11 Closed April 15, 2013

+ Lot 2/E Will begin preliminary work on 5/1. Lot will close May 13th

+ Lot K & L Will begin preliminary work on 5/1. Lot will close May 13th

+ Lot 13 Will begin preliminary work 5/1; Lot will close May 13th Project to include repaving of roadway.

+ Lot N1 Construction begins June 1, 2013

+ Lot W preliminary work to begin 4/24 weather permitting.

+ Gilbert Drive expected to re-open in July.

+ The Parking Deck will be closed from May 20, 2013 for up to two week for cleaning, painting & repairs.

+ General parking lot maintenance (striping and cleaning) will be done as needed and as weather permits.

NIU Campus Parking is sorry for any inconvenience caused by the above construction. Current Blue permit holders may park in any colored lot from May 13, 2013 through August 15, 2013 due to summer construction projects. Current Student permit holders may park in any student lot from May 13, 2013 through August 15, 2013 to help due to summer construction projects.
