Purpose
To recognize outstanding journalistic effort contributing to greater awareness of women's issues at NIU.
Eligibility
Open to all NIU students and alumni who have written and published about women's issues at NIU from March 1, 2012 to the present.
Entries
Eligible entries include news coverage and/or commentary, individual articles, videos or blogs or a series of articles on a topic(s) related to NIU women. Entries may have been published in campus publications such as Northern Star and Lifeline, or in other newspapers such as Daily Chronicle, Midweek, and Chicago Tribune.
Criteria
Entries will be judged by the quality of writing or video, originality of content, and the significance of coverage.
Entry Submission
- Limited to no more than two entries for each applicant. (An entry may be a single article or video or a series of topics on one issue.)
- Each entry must be submitted in triplicate with:
- A completed entry form.
- A clear copy of the published work.
- Submission deadline: Friday, March 8, 2013 by 4:30 p.m.
- Submit entries to Women's Studies Office in Reavis Hall, Room 103
Awards
The recipient will be presented with a plaque at the PCSW Outstanding Women's Award Reception in April. In addition, the award winner's name will be inscribed on the PCSW Journalism Award plaque which is on permanent display.
