During fall 1980, a task force comprised of Barbara Bate, Cathleen Fields, and Pat Takemoto proposed to President William Monat a concept for an advisory group on issues important to women that would become the NIU Presidential Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW).
The Commission is composed of faculty, staff and student members and meets at 1 PM on the second Wednesday of each month from September through May. We welcome input and participation from anyone who is interested. Each year the commission sets goals to address various issues at NIU that impact all women who are members of the university community.
A complete history of the NIU Presidential Commission on the Status of Women is available upon request. Additional information on the Presidential Commission on the Status of Women and other university committees is available in the NIU Committees of the University published by the University Council and Faculty Senate Publications.
