I chose my major because … I wanted to be involved in television and entertainment. I never wanted a regular 9-to-5, sit-down job. I enjoy having various tasks, and I work well under pressure. The possibilities of meeting celebrities are always a plus, too!
My favorite class or professor at NIU is … Mr. Sean Shesgreen. I had him for English 300A, and he taught me how to write clearly and vividly. The class wasn't easy, but it was a challenge that I enjoyed—and after taking it I knew I could do anything I set my mind to.
My favorite thing to do on campus is … being involved with both S.I.S.T.E.R.S. and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. I like being involved in my community and, among other things, both of these organizations allow me to do just that.
Outside of the classroom, my favorite thing at NIU that really enhances my experience here is … the laundry room. Yes, the laundry room. Even though I have graduated there is no other place that has $1.65 washers and free dryers!
When I have free time, I like to … go to the movies, shop, and have barbeques at my house for friends and family (no matter what season it is—rain, hail, sleet or snow!).
One thing I wish I knew about actual college life before I got here is … don't wait, whether it be to concentrate harder on your grades or get involved on campus. These four years go by extremely fast, and you can't get that time back.
One positive thing I have learned about myself since coming to NIU is … there is no task that I cannot do! Who thought I'd be interning at FOX News in the Morning? Not me! Two years ago, I wouldn't have even applied, because I just knew I wouldn't qualify. Now look at me!
If I was guaranteed success, I would … use my fame to inspire others to help find a cure for or the cause of autism. My brother was diagnosed with the disability when he was 2 years old.
After graduation, I plan to … continue my education at NIU as a grad student. After that I will be in TV production. Who knows ... in four years, I may be the producer of your favorite sitcom!
The one NIU experience I will always remember will be ... the death of my S.I.S.T.E.R. Ms. Brittnii Sutton. It was a somber reminder that we are not promised tomorrow. We cannot count on doing tomorrow what we can do today.
