I chose my major because … so many teachers have made a difference in my life. I want to be that individual who loves school and comes into class with a smile every day.
My favorite professor at NIU is … Joshua Adair, my English 103 instructor, because he welcomes and encourages creativity through class discussions and papers.
My favorite thing to do on campus is … spread sunshine and buy cards for people I care about for every occasion.
Outside of the classroom, my favorite thing at NIU that really enhances my experience here is … the Asian American Association. Everyone in the community has been so warm and welcoming.
When I have free time, I enjoy ... scrapbooking, running and making others happy.
One thing I wish I knew about actual college life before I got here is … that there are many organizations on campus, you just have to find the ones that are right for you.
One positive thing I have learned about myself since coming to NIU is … I can grow from my mistakes, and that helps me reflect on how I’ve changed. Also, after living away from home for weeks at a time, my appreciation for my family and people I care about has become greater.
If I was guaranteed success, I would … pursue my elementary education major and degree. I hope to make a difference in as many students’ lives as I can.
After graduation, I plan to … teach in an elementary school in the suburbs.
The one NIU experience I will always remember will be … meeting my mentor, Michelle Bringas, and spending time with her. She and I share many laughs together.
