I chose my major because … I took the accounting introductory class, Accounting 206. I did very well in it and enjoyed the material so I decided accounting is way to go. NIU also has a great accounting program, so I knew I was going to get an excellent accounting education here.

My favorite class or professor at NIU is … UBUS 310 finance teacher Dr. Johnson, because he always makes me laugh with his jokes and makes UBUS 310 somewhat enjoyable.

My favorite thing to do on campus is … playing soccer and working out.

Outside of the classroom, my favorite thing at NIU that really enhances my experience here is  … being part of ALPFA, the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting. It helps me develop my leadership and communication skills while learning more about accounting through business professionals who come out and give us presentations.

When I have free time, I like to … hang out with my friends at “Apt. 27,” play basketball, play video games and listen to music.

One thing I wish I knew about actual college life before I got here is … how important it is to get involved around campus. Whether it’s a school organization, Greek organization or any organization around campus, it’s important to join something in order to enhance your college experience and build relationships.

One positive thing I have learned about myself since coming to NIU is … that I can be successful if I work hard at whatever I do.

If I was guaranteed success, I would ... go to Spain and play professional soccer with Barcelona alongside Ronaldinho!

After graduation, I plan to … get my master’s, take the CPA and, after that, work for a public accounting firm in Chicago.

The one NIU experience I will always remember will be ... seeing the NIU community come together as it did after the Feb. 14 tragedy. It was awesome seeing everyone supporting each other.
