I chose my major because … since I can remember, I have gone into the voting booth with my dad on Election Day, and I always ask him about the political world. Politics is my passion and I can’t seem to get enough.

My favorite class or professor at NIU is … it’s a tie between Dr. Gary Glenn and Dr. Matt Streb. When I walked into Dr. Glenn’s class my freshman year, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. He challenged me in a way no other teacher had, and forced me to think in a way I never had before. I have Dr. Streb for Political Science 305, which is all about political parties and elections. He is so full of energy and gets excited about what he is teaching that it is hard not to enjoy the class and learn new things.

My favorite thing to do on campus is … make people look at Altgeld Hall! I think that it is the most beautiful building; I absolutely fell in love with it when I first visited NIU.

Outside of the classroom, my favorite thing at NIU that really enhances my experience here is … the Student Association. I was amazed when I first got involved at the amount of decision-making power the students have.

When I have free time, I like to … check the headlines. The first thing I do when getting back from class is check the newspapers online to see if I missed anything. I am so paranoid about missing something big in the political world.

One thing I wish I knew about actual college life before I got here is … how OK I would be at college.  Honestly, I was so scared before coming here; I was second-guessing my choices for everything. Now, I am happier than ever and I love NIU. I know that I have made the right choices and am headed down the right path.

One positive thing I have learned about myself since coming to NIU is … how much I am truly capable of. I never thought I would be involved in so much so quickly, and I love it all.

If I was guaranteed success, I would … move to Washington, D.C., today. I think it would be exciting to live and work in the nation’s capitol.

After graduation, I plan to … intern in Springfield for a year, and then go to law school.

The one NIU experience I will always remember will be … the Homecoming football games. Football games are so much fun, and when everyone is out tailgating and excited on Homecoming, it’s a great time.
