I chose my major because … I have always been interested in business, even as a child. I choose finance specifically because I enjoy working with numbers and money.

My favorite class or professor at NIU is … Dr. Lei Zhou, whom I have had for two classes: Investments, and Fixed Income Securities. He is my favorite professor because he is not only very knowledgeable about the material but he is one of those professors who could make any subject interesting.

My favorite thing to do on campus is … to get together with friends and go to the tailgating before Huskie football games.

Outside of the classroom, my favorite thing at NIU that really enhances my experience here is … the Study Abroad Office, which led to my study in Spain; Career and Internship Fairs, which led to my summer internship and my current employment at Siemens; and the excellent NIU Scholarship search website, which helped me find scholarships.

When I have free time, I like to … hang out with friends, watch the Huskies, play video games and play the piano.

One thing I wish I knew about actual college life before I got here is … that succeeding in college only requires three things: 1. Go to class. 2. Do your homework and study. 3. Talk to your professor and get to know him/her.

One positive thing I have learned about myself since coming to NIU is … that (however corny it may sound) hard work pays off and that it is never too late to improve oneself.

If I was guaranteed success, I would … come back to NIU in 30 years and construct the biggest and most modern building on campus …Gaebler Hall. I hope to someday be able to give back to NIU for all that it has given to me and my family.

After graduation, I plan to … work full-time for Siemens Building Technologies as a financial analyst. I have been hired into their Fast Track Rotational Program where I will be doing different jobs and moving to different locations every six months for the next two years. Eventually I hope get some experience abroad with Siemens as they have offices all over the world.

The one NIU experience I will always remember will be … the 13 months I spent studying abroad in beautiful Pamplona, Spain. Not only did I learn to speak fluent Spanish and make friends from all over the world, but I also learned more about myself and my own country.
