Meet the Northern View Staff
Northern View Community has a team of professionals and student staff ready to help you. Our staff is focused on making your experience at NIU productive and comfortable. Professional staff is available 8:30am-4pm Mon-Fri, student staff is available in the office 8am-10pm Mon-Fri, and 1-8pm Saturday and Sunday, and on-call staff is available 24 hours, 7 days a week. If you are a current resident in need of immediate assistance contact the office at 815-753-VIEW (8439), if it is after regularly staffed office hours, wait for the voicemail and follow the prompt to reach the on-call staff member.
Northern View Community Director: The Northern View Community Director oversees the entire Northern View Apartment Community, from contracts to staff supervision.Jennifer Zeinz
Northern View Community Chief Clerk: The Northern View Clerk serves as the face of the Northern View Community Center Office. This individual works side-by-side with the Community Director, Assistant Community Director, student staff and residents while maintaining the Community Center and Office. This individual also handles all Community Center room reservations.Sarah Sweet
Northern View Community Graduate Assistant Director: The Northern View Community Graduate Assistant Director is a graduate student at NIU, usually studying Adult and Higher Education. Serving as a bridge between student and professional staff, the Northern View Community Graduate Assistant Director supervises NVC Desk Staff, serves with the on-call staff, addresses resident concerns and assists in the overall management of the Northern View Community.Rosa Campos
Community Development Assistants & Staff Assistants: Community Development Assistants, or CDAs, are students just like you and have been hired by the University to assist residents with daily concerns. CDAs, much like Community Advisors, or CAs, in the residence halls, work to ensure that the community environment is suitable for learning and living. CDAs are an excellent resource and are well-informed about services available to students. In correlation with NIU’s Residential Curriculum model, they also create exciting educational and social events to provide residents a well-rounded, holistic experience in Managing Personal Relationships, Succeeding Academically, Creating an Inclusive Climate, Contributing Responsibly to the Community, and Making Healthy Life Choices. Additionally, CDAs serve on the 24 hours, 7 days a week, on-call rotation to ensure staff is available at all times for residents. They enforce policy and procedures, provide roommate mediations, perform check in and check outs, and assist with a variety of other administrative tasks. Staff Assistants, though they work less hours, perform essentially the same tasks as CDAs and are an essential resource to Northern View Community residents.
Desk Assistants: Desk Assistants are also student staff members, who work in the Northern View Community Center Office. Desk Assistants assist in answering phones, helping with student concerns, giving tours to prospective residents, distributing packages, assisting with lockouts, supervising the Community Center, and other various tasks. Desk Assistants make it possible for the Community Center to be open 8am-10pm Mon-Fri and 1pm-8pm Saturday and Sunday.
