Sustainability
Sustainability may mean many
different things to many different people, but Dining Services takes to heart
its overreaching message to maintain the well-being of people and nature
through the responsible use of resources.
Residential Dining encompasses many
different aspects which help the campus of Northern Illinois University reduce,
recycle and reuse. Some examples of our efforts to run a sustainable
program include:
- Trayless dining at Stevenson and New Hall
- Serving students in Neptune Dining Commons to reduce food
waste
- Using napkins made from recycled paper
- 100% biodegradable and compostable cups & lids from Seattle's Best
Ideas and suggestions for this
program are always welcome.
