Each Homeland Security certificate builds on a core set of classes that review disaster preparation, response, recovery, and the origins of terrorism. Students will be prepared to develop and implement systems for homeland security planning and management at the local, regional, and national levels. Those who complete the certificate gain the following skills:

  • Expertise in identifying hazards resulting from natural and human-made disasters
  • Strategic skills in advising public and private organizations regarding best-practices for risk management
  • Knowledge for implementing appropriate technologies
  • Understanding of the conditions that lead to terrorist activity

Each track can be tailored to fit the needs of students and professionals with specific goals in mind.
