This one-day workshop is for those interested in publishing with an academic press.
This workshop will be led by Linda Manning, director of the NIU Press, and will address such topics as writing an effective cover letter and proposal; understanding the review process and board approval; negotiating an effective contract; preparing for publication; and working with your press's marketing manager to promote your book. Participants will have opportunities to study successful examples as well as to engage in hands-on/interactive activities. Ample time will be allowed for questions and discussion. Participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the workshop.

Linda Manning is the director of the NIU Press. She was previously the marketing manager at NIU Press from 2004-2010 and served as marketing and sales manager of the University of Utah Press for three years before returning to NIU. Linda is a graduate of NIU with a bachelor's degree in French translation and business and a master's in French.
