60 Seasons Stratford 2012As the Stratford Shakespeare Festival celebrates its sixtieth season, the glorious heritage of our past provides us with a clear signpost to the way ahead.

The pioneering artists and those who supported them sought to create in Stratford nothing less than the finest classical theatre in the world. Thanks to their vision and determination, the adventure that began in 1953 with two productions in a tent is now North America's premier repertory theatre, featuring fourteen productions in five venues.

Since 1987, NIU's Department of English has offered study trips to the Stratford Festival. This year, the University brings you another educational experience conducted by NIU faculty whose special expertise makes this program extraordinarily rewarding.

This trip includes three days of exceptional performances at Stratford's historic theatres. To make your travel experience even more rewarding and pleasurable, NIU's Stratford program offers a pre-trip meeting on campus, convivial travel, a welcome dinner, all breakfasts, and the BEST available seats. During your stay in Stratford, our faculty host will provide commentary prior to the productions and be available to answer questions throughout the program.

You will enjoy the following program features: reserved theatre tickets, program notes on the plays, accommodations in Stratford's Queen's Inn, and a distinctive NIU canvas tote bag. With all this, there's never been a better year to join us for Stratford - and we hope you'll agree!
