The main building of the NIU College of Engineering and Engineering Technology is designed to not just teach students concepts in the classroom, but to immerse them in their application.

While it has a full complement of modern classrooms, most of the building is dedicated to laboratory space where students can get hands-on experience at everything from creating nano-technology in the newly updated micro-electronics lab to building half-scale race cars and industrial robots in the large industrial labs.

Students also have access to laboratories featuring wind tunnels, a sound-proof acoustics testing chamber, and labs dedicated to work in fields like bio-signal analysis and electrodynamics.

The CEET Department of Technology is housed in two of the most historic buildings on campus, Still Hall and Still Gym.

Today the buildings house 13 laboratories that feature state of the art technologies for students working on robotics, digital communications, plastics injection molding, pneumatics and hydraulics and rapid prototyping of mechanical parts. The buildings also include workshops for metal working and welding.

Opened in 1928, the buildings were among some of the first build on campus. They originally housed not only a gymnasium, but also the Industrial Arts Laboratories, classrooms, rooms for printing, book binding, metal work and mechanical drawing.

Computer Labs

Engineering Computer Labs

We have computer labs in each of our buildings. Labs are maintained by a dedicated IT staff and are equipped with Microsoft Office and other software necessary to complete your work. Follow the more information tab for hours and policies.
