The Galapagos Islands Adventure
December 28, 2009 - January 5, 2010
Today with 95% of its natural biodiversity still intact, the Galapagos Archipelago is a living laboratory of evolution. The Galapagos Islands are home to the exotic birds, animals and plants that inspired Darwin and made the islands a nature lover’s paradise. Island touring will include up close and personal wet and dry landings to see Galapagos penguins, giant sea turtles, land and marine iguanas, sea lions, penguins, pelicans and other native sea birds, volcanic formations and countless other wonders of nature and the sea.
We’ll explore these natural wonders by island hopping on The Galapagos Legend - a 5-star expedition-style cruise ship. The islands, each with a distinct ecosystem, are literally overflowing with life, including species unknown elsewhere in the world, like the flightless cormorant and the marine iguana. On mainland Ecuador we visit the colorful Andean market of Otavalo and explore colonial Quito and the Middle of the World City complex.
