Summer Campus Visits (June 8-August 14)
From the Barsema Alumni & Visitors Center (BAVC)
Monday through Thursday, June 8-August 14, start your campus visit to NIU Admissions at the Barsema Alumni and Visitor Center (231 N. Annie Glidden Road).
The BAVC Admissions Office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and closed on Fridays. On Fridays, start your visit from the Office of Admissions in Williston Hall. Regular operating hours will resume on Monday, August 17, 2009.
At the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center you can:
- Obtain a campus map and directions
- Purchase a reduced-rate visitor’s parking permit
- Enjoy a short video about Northern
- Attend a 30-minute Admissions presentation at 10:15 a.m. or 12:45 p.m. (please plan to arrive earlier, at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the presentations, to check in and to purchase your parking permit.)
Following the 30 minute Admissions presentation at the BAVC, visit the Office of Admissions, 101 Williston Hall, to join the 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. campus tour on Mondays through Thursdays.
From the Office of Admissions (Williston Hall 101)
The Office of Admissions in Williston Hall is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Mondays-Thursdays, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays (June 8-August 14).
- Monday through Thursdays, campus walking tours leave the Admissions Office at 11:30 a.m. and again at 2:00 p.m..
- On Fridays, the campus walking tour leaves from the office at 12 p.m. On Fridays, there are Admissions presentations that start at 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. following check-in at the Admissions Office. Please plan to arrive earlier to check in prior to the start of the presentations.
- On Fridays, the Office of Admissions is the only open office on campus. All other offices on campus are closed.
- Regular operating hours resume Monday, August 17.
- Admissions counselors are available on a walk-in basis (appointments are not necessary)
- If you wish to meet with academic personnel as part of a weekday campus visit, please contact the Office of Admissions at (815) 753-0446 for an appointment at least 10 days prior to your preferred visit date.
- Transfer students may also meet with the Transfer Center on a walk in basis, during regular hours, at the Admissions Office, 101 Williston Hall.
- Visitors are encouraged to check the Admissions Visit Calendar to ensure the NIU Office of Admissions will be open on the day of their visit.
