Fall Semester 2008 (New Procedures on MYNIU)

  • NIU Admissions sends an acknowledgment email to you, typically within 2 weeks of receiving your Transfer application, with information and instructions to set up your MYNIU account.  If you do not have an email address, you will be mailed an application acknowledgment letter with the MYNIU instructions and procedures.
  • Upon receiving your application acknowledgment email or letter, you are then authorized to gain access to the MYNIU site to check your admission application status online.
  • The email or letter will authorize and assist you with setting up your MYNIU account.  Once activated, you may check and monitor your application status continuously from start to final decision.
  • You will also be able to Confirm your intention to enroll if offered Transfer admissions to NIU.
  • You will need to set up a Password and Z-ID account in order to access the MYNIU site.   Follow the instructions in your acknowledgment email or letter for setting up your Password and Z-ID.
  • To check your Transfer admission status, review the information on your application file, and Confirm intention to enroll for an admissions offer, log into MYNIU.niu.edu after obtaining your Password and Z-ID.
  • Order and send all required Transfer application materials.  Admissions processing requires completed applications with the fee payment, all official college transcripts from all colleges attended, official ACT and /or SAT test scores and final official high school transcripts if applying with less than 24 transferable semester hours of college credit, and any other specifically identified items, to be received at the Office of Admissions prior to any established priority filing dates or announced deadlines.
  • Any outstanding documents that are necessary to process your application will be on your "To Do List" on your MyNIU page. Allow a minimum of 3-4 weeks time from the date you have applied, ordered a document or test score to be sent to NIU for it to arrive and to be updated on your MYNIU page.  Processing time can vary and may be longer during peak application periods.
