"Hello!" My interest in admissions work began while I worked as an NIU student orientation staff member. I started my "official" career as an admissions counselor at Western Illinois University (1984-1989) while I pursued my Master’s degree. In 1989 I returned to full-time graduate studies and finished my program in 1990. Shortly thereafter, I began work as the Admissions Coordinator at Southeastern Community College in Keokuk, IA. I served in this position until 1995 when I returned to my alma mater as Associate Director of Admissions - It’s great to be back!

My duties include writing and/or co-writing most office publications, training and supervision of admissions counselors and student telephone team, and coordination of counselors travel. Outside interests (when I have time to have a life!) include: spending time with my husband, walking, golfing and swimming.

Choosing your college is all about fit. While you're on a campus visit, can you sense that you would feel at home there? Academics are your top priority, but you must also feel comfortable with the location, social life, and overall atmosphere. The feeling that you get about a school during a visit will often be the deciding factor of whether you decide to attend there. Start visiting colleges during your junior year and make a second visit to those that are the top three on your list. Do your homework first by cruising web sites, looking at literature, and talking with college representatives.
