Peer Mentor Pilot Program

Mentors

Why do you want to be a mentor?

Alanaj, Gesilda
"I am very involved with the Asian community, I like to help people and get them involved and I would like to influence upcoming Freshmen positively and help them with whatever they need to accomodate them to college life.  Being a mentor in High school, I know that is an important job".

Almazan, Robin
"To help new incoming students adjust well during their first year at NIU".

Ching, Andrew
"Experience, chance to become someone I am not".

Cuaresma, Michael
"I would like to learn how to help others in a more meaningful way and I think that the Peer Mentor Program would provide a good experience for me to learn from."

Genus, Jolian
"Because I think I can be useful".

Hsu, Teddy
"I want to help incoming freshmen adapt to college life.  I believe as a mentor we have a lot of responsibilities and some of that is to push my protege to never give up and motivation and to get involved with all the opportunities on campus.  I want to try to guarantee a good college life".

Koo, Lois
"I feel this is a great opportunity to get involved as well as give back to the Asian community all that it has given me.  It wasn't too long ago that I was a freshman coming into a new environment and I feel that I can reach out to those that feel the same way as they come into their first year at a big university".

Ku, Leo
"-Meet people, - Like to help people(newcomers)".

Lee, Paul
"To help freshmen have a foothold on their college life.  Teach the basics like community/campus life, and Be Involved".

Leung, Heidi
"I want to meet new people and want to help students as much as I can.  I am also a good listener and I will make time for anyone if they need it".

Nguyen, Linh-Han
"I had so much fun as a (protege) and this experience has made my freshman year so much more memorable.  I want to share my experience with an incoming freshman"

Li, Mei
"Because I am very knowledgeable on NIU, I can relate very well to those younger than me, and I remember how scary and overwhelming college seemed like it was yesterday".

Querubin, Archie
"To share the wonderful experiences that I had as a protege.  Also, to give back to the program and to my mentor(Ms. Eiffel Santos) by keeping the program running through active participation".

Shaffie, Anam
"I want to help someone out just the way my mentor helped me get through the first semester of college".

Vongkhounethep, Lote
"It would be a new experience and being a mentor would help my interest in getting to know more people and introducing and helping another person".
